# Jira

### Granting Jira Access

Please provide us with the following information for Jira access:

1. URL (link) to your Jira Service.
2. Username.
3. Password (or **Authentication Token** - note that the use of passwords is **deprecated** for Jira Cloud).
4. Whether the Jira service is Cloud or Server based.

### Jira Authentication Token Creation

Token creation is done differently for Jira Cloud (**API Token**) and Jira Server (**Personal Access Token**):

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th width="134.9375"></th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Jira Cloud:</strong></td><td>Go to <a href="https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security/api-tokens">https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/security/api-tokens</a> and create an AP| token.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Jira Server:</strong></td><td>In Jira, select your profile picture at the top right of the screen, then select <strong>Profile</strong>. Once you access your profile, select <strong>Personal Access Tokens</strong> in the left-hand menu. You can then proceed to create a personal access token.</td></tr></tbody></table>

> **Note**: Regarding permissions, we only require read-access permissions.
